Spider-Man: No Way Home

The long-awaited, highly anticipated, and jaw-dropping Spider-Man trailer finally dropped late Monday night. Fans are in a tizzy.

The teaser trailer to Spider-Man: No Way Home lives up to its title. The first half depicts a desperate Peter Parker seeking out assistance from Dr. Strange (they’re friends now because they saved the world together). Parker wishes that the world would no longer know his identity, and Strange, uncharacteristically and brazenly, casts a reckless spell that blasts the MCU as we know it into a spiraling multiverse.

Take a look at the trailer below to see exactly who steps through the multiverse rift to give Peter a run for his money. (Hint hint: he’s got 4 extra appendages.)

That’s right: we see the return of Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 2.

Additionally, there are flashing bolts of lightning and a round, green glowing grenade which signify appearances from notorious Spider-Man villains Electro and the Green Goblin. Could we see the addition of Sandman? Maybe the Vulture? That would leave the bad guy count just one short of the infamous Sinister Six.

All of these antagonists leave Peter sorely outnumbered. There have been many a rumor of the third installment of Tom Holland’s Spider-Man including previous big screen versions of the web-slinger (Toby McGuire and Andrew Garfield). This would make sense, as he is going to need all the help he can get fighting the gambit of super-villains roaming about the newly formed multiverse. Plus, fans would go absolutely nuts seeing all three Spider-Men fighting together at once.

The trailer also shows Peter and Dr. Strange tripping and falling through wonky astral planes as a result of the unstable timeline. Strange warns that the multiverse is something “we know frighteningly little” about. It seems as though the multiverse will be a common thread here on out, as we have seen it touched on [SPOILER] at the end of both Loki and WandaVision.

The third MCU Spider-Man installment will lead up to the events in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, as confirmed by Marvel Studios’ Kevin Feige.

Spider-Man: No Way Home releases on December 17th. The film will repeatedly star Tom Holland, Zendaya, Jacob Batalon and Marisa Tomei.
