loki tv show

Disney+ is preparing for a big year with a couple of different spinoff series pertaining to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). One of these shows is Loki, which of course revolves around the prominent villain and titular character within the popular universe.

The Asgardian trickster will be the front and center character and portrayed by Tom Hiddleston in a reprisal of his role from the various films of the MCU. The series is set for the initial premiere on June 9 on a weekly basis on Wednesdays, and here is a quick glimpse at what to expect.

There has been quite a bit of information gleaned from the various trailers for the upcoming series. Loki is essentially changing the course of time and the show takes place after Avengers: Endgame.

The show is centered around Loki being on the run through time and space and even parallel universes and should be intriguing for any fan of the MCU. The trailer and initial posters also promise a heavy dosage of the Time Variance Authority.

Here’s a quick look at the various trailers that have already come out about the show.

Disney+ has seemingly invested in another season before the first has come out. The entertainment giant has already renewed for a season 2 with production to begin in 2022.

The creator of the series, Michael Waldron, has already said that the series would be science fiction, writing, “You know what they say about ‘sci-fi’: Expect the unexpected when it comes to science fiction.”

There are a few other important things to look out for in the upcoming series.

Loki as a woman?

There are photos that have come out that have actress Sophia Di Martino in a costume resembling the one normally worn by Loki. Whether or not she is Loki in a disguise of some kind or a separate character has yet to be leaked. Loki is able to change his form in the comics and that is not something that would be completely unexpected in the MCU.

Most of the major players in the new series have already been announced. They include the following:

As mentioned, Tom Hiddleston will play the titular character in what should be a fun role for him as the central focus.

The show will reportedly also include frequent Wes Anderson collaborator, Zoolander and Wedding Crashers star Owen Wilson in a role that has yet to be identified. As a cult icon already, Wilson will certainly bring some added big-name star recognition to the show with whatever role he plays.

Sophia Di Martino will also play the mysterious and possible “Female Loki” character.

British actress Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Dr. Who) is also said to be involved in the series.

Sasha Lane (Utopia) is also confirmed for an undisclosed part in the show.

MCU excitement

This comes as just one of the many new projects revolving around the MCU.

Other shows that are coming out soon in the universe include ‘What If…?, Hawkeye, Mr. Marvel, Moon Knight, She-Hulk, Secret Invasion, Ironheart, Armor Wars, I Am Groot, and a Wakanda related series’.

Definitely, a lot of news will come out about each of these shows, and we’ll most certainly keep you posted on the details of each of them as they come out. For now, get excited for Loki and perhaps get caught up on the extensive world of the MCU.
