Niantic is adding some life to Pokemon Go’s trainer battles. The current gameplay for trainer battles revolves around tapping the screen to power up your charge attacks, which isn’t as thrilling as it should be.

Good news from Niantic!

With Niantic’s latest update, players will enjoy a more engaging style of battling by swiping and match the pattern of the icons falling across your screen to power up charge attacks. Accuracy may play a role in how powerful you Pokemons attach will be.

Pokemon GO is also getting a revamped appraisal system. You will be able to see bars showing your Pokemon’s individual values. The previous system was confusing, leading players to use Pokemon IV calculator apps. The new appraisal system shows you actual bars to indicate the Attack, Stamina, and Defense of your chosen Pokémon.

Niantic tweeted “We are rolling out an updated appraisal system to give you more detailed information on your Pokemon’s stats, and will soon be updating the Charged Attack mechanic in Trainer Battles.”
