Hawkeye-Disney-Plus

There’s a bit more news about Marvel’s highly anticipated Hawkeye release coming to Disney Plus in late 2021 or 2022.

Most importantly, Florence Pugh will again appear as Yelena Belova, the colleague of Black Widow in the release.

This indicates that the show will have direct connections to the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) which really comes as no surprise given Jeremy Renner is also set to appear as the titular character of Hawkeye, Clint Barton.

The addition of Pugh’s Belova to the show will then prove to be the second appearance of the new character.

Black Widow will establish Belova in the MCU prior to Hawkeye which occurs after she takes over the duties of Black Widow following her death. Like Black Widow, Belova also graduated from the Russian Red Room program and still appears in the comics today.

Of course, Black Widow had its release pushed back several times because of the ongoing pandemic.

It is now set to come out May 7, 2021, and will be a prequel starring Scarlett Johansson in her final role as the titular character. Black Widow takes place after the events in Captain America: Civil War.

This is the latest revelation about the upcoming show as news has continued to trickle in.

It has already been announced that Hailee Steinfeld will also be playing the other Hawkeye, Kate Bishop. The show will also be set following the events of Avengers: Endgame

Disney Plus have also confirmed seven of the show’s cast members and roles they will play thus far.

This includes Pugh, Renner, Fra Free, Vera Farmiga, Tony Dalton, Alaqua Cox, and Zahn McClarnon.

Free will play the villain of the Hawkeye comic series, Kazimierz Kazimierczak.

Farmiga will appear as the mother of Kate Bishop, and Dalton will be Jack Duquesne, a circus performer and important role model for Clint Barton.

In addition, Cox will appear as Echo, a deaf Native American superhero and McClarnon will play Echo’s father.

This will inevitably be a huge break for Pugh, who is 24 and has been acting since 2014.

She debuted in The Falling in 2014 and has since starred in Lady Macbeth and then the mini-series The Little Drummer Girl.

She has also appeared in Midsommar, Little Women, and Fighting With My Family.

For those looking for something to get caught up on over the holidays, there’s plenty of MCU-related content already out there.

Black Widow and now Hawkeye teasing these new releases is a great way of keeping fans in the know and also serves as a reminder to any casual fans to get caught up with the MCU because there’s plenty more to come.
