new amazon products

Amazon’s new device lineup for the fall includes a complete overhaul of the Echo line. It also introduces a new Fire TV stick and several Ring-branded products. Finally, Amazon introduced its new cloud game streaming service, dubbed Amazon Luna.

Amazon Luna

Amazon Luna is a new game streaming service that uses Amazon Web Services as its cloud back-end. It’s similar to Nvidia’s GeForce Now and Microsoft’s Game Pass Ultimate cloud streaming services. Amazon Luna starts at just $6/month, making it cheaper than rival cloud gaming options.

Amazon is also launching a custom Amazon Luna controller for $50 that connects directly to the cloud. The Luna cloud controller is a first of its kind, reducing round-trip input latency by 17-30 ms thanks to its cloud connection. That’s a significant reduction of lag compared to using a cloud service with a Bluetooth controller connected to a home device.

Amazon Echo

Amazon completely redesigned its Echo smart speaker lineup to feature a spherical design. The design better accommodates omnidirectional mics and speakers, helping the device achieve room-filling sound. This fourth-generation of Echo devices also includes a bridge to Amazon’s Sidewalk network to accelerate Alexa’s response time. The new speaker is arriving on October 22 for $100.

Amazon Echo Dot

Amazon has also updated the Echo Dot lineup to feature its new spherical design. The Echo Dot now has a fabric cover and a better speaker inside for $50. If the regular Echo Dot isn’t svelte enough, Amazon is also launching two more Echo Dot editions.

The Echo Dot Kids Edition features kid-friendly designs like a panda face. It includes voice profiles for children and access to Amazon Sidekick, which allows Alexa to read stories to them.

Finally, another Echo Dot version features a built-in LED clock. Both the Kids Edition and Clock Echo Dot retail for $60.

Amazon Echo Show 10

The Amazon Echo Show also received an update with some new privacy features like a built-in camera shutter. There’s also a new privacy command, “delete everything I’ve ever said.” The new Echo Show 10 supports Hulu, Netflix, and Prime Video as built-in apps. The Echo Show 10 can also pivot on its base and follow your movements around your house. This slight refresh of Amazon’s smart display will retail for $250.

Eero 6 & Eero Pro 6

Amazon’s mesh network product, the Eero, also received an update to Wi-Fi 6 and an upgraded Pro version. The Eero 6 mesh network is capped at 500Mbps connections, while the Eero Pro 6 can handle up to one-gigabit speeds.

The Eero 6 starts at $129, while the Eero Pro 6 starts at $229. You can use any combination of these devices with one another to form a mesh network in your home.

Fire TV Stick 2020

Amazon updated its Fire TV Stick for 2020 with a faster interface and 1080p HDR and Dolby Atmos support. It also uses less power than the previous model. Unfortunately, this $40 model doesn’t support 4K. You’ll have to upgrade to the $50 Fire TV Stick 4K for higher-definition streaming.

Fire TV Stick Lite

The Fire TV Stick Lite starts at $30 and offers similar features to the Fire TV Stick 2020. It’s only missing the integrated TV controls available on the more expensive version of the Fire TV Stick.

Ring Car Connect

Ring announced a suite of car products designed to help you secure your vehicle while away. The $200 Ring Car Cam helps document collisions, road events, and traffic stops.

The $200 Connect uses a vehicles’ external cameras to capture video if it detects the car is involved in a crash while driving or parked.

Finally, the $60 Ring Car Alarm uses the car’s OBD-II port to monitor the vehicle for break-ins.

Ring Always Home Cam

Ring also introduced a drone for your home called the Always Home Cam. The drone can be programmed to fly a specific route or fly to an area where motion is detected. The Always Home Cam drone will debut for $250.

Ring Mailbox Sensor

Ring’s final new product is a simple $30 mailbox sensor that alerts you when a mailbox is opened. Pre-orders for the mailbox sensor start on October 8.
