new amazon products

Amazon has recently stated that it had its “biggest holiday season to date” after a flood of customers turned to the popular e-commerce portal on both Black Friday and Cyber Monday and everything in between.

The company reported in a blog post the sales figures for independent sellers and asserted it had more than $4.8 billion during the two huge shopping days.

This is actually a 60 percent increase in the figure from last year!

Amazon also stated, “Through Cyber Monday, 2020 has been the largest holiday shopping season so far in our company’s history thanks to customers around the world.”

Amazon’s good fortunes has not been experienced by those in the physical retail space, as reports have said that in-store traffic was 52.1 percent less this year than in 2019.

Clearly, customers preferred to stay at home and avoid the actual hassle and danger of being around crowded stores.

In another incredible statistic, 42 cents of each dollar that is spent during this hoilday shopping season may be spent on Amazon, which was still an astounding 36 cents in 2019.

The tech giant also wrote that roughly 71,000 small and mid-sized businesses had more than $100,000 in sales already this holiday season.

This doesn’t include Amazon’s own branded products, which certainly sold well too.

According to Amazon, shoppers purchased “more Ring, Blink, and eero devices on Amazon than during any previous holiday shopping weekend.”

Amazon also wrote that the Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K both were top-sellers during the holiday weekend.

The company adds that other top-selling devices on Black Friday and Cyber Monday include its new Echo Dot and Fire TV Stick 4K.

This is really nothing new for the tech giant in 2020. Because of the pandemic, it has been perhaps the biggest online retailer to benefit with the push away from in-store purchases.

The company recently had a huge 2 day long Prime Day event that was pushed to October, and it reported a huge third quarter that saw net income triple from 2019.

All of these gains has led to Amazon adding about 427,300 new employees in the past ten months.

Its fourth-quarter numbers will likely be outrageous given the circumstances given it will include Prime Day and the holidays together.
