Sony skipped E3 once again in 2021 but the company didn’t leave fans of the PlayStation brand hanging. The company recently held its State of Play event, showcasing many upcoming titles.

Much like Microsoft is going through with the Xbox Series X, Sony is struggling to keep up with demand for the PS5 due to a shortage of chips. It’s an issue that is expected to last going into 2022.

Despite the issue, Sony is still garnering huge sales of the PS5. The console was released in November 2020 and already has almost 10 million units sold. Let’s take a look at some of the hottest titles from Sony’s State of Play event.

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut

Death Stranding: Director’s Cut had already been showcased by Hideo Kojima at the Summer Game Fest. During the State of Play event, the game’s first full trailer was unearthed.

Along with the video teaser came a release date. Death Stranding: Director’s Cut will be dropping on PS5 on September 24. Pre-orders are also currently open. Owners of the standard edition of Death Stranding will be able to upgrade to the Director’s Cut for $10.

Deathloop

Deathloop received the extended look treatment at Sony’s State of Play. This Bethesda shooter is set to be released on September 14. The game is being developed by Arkane Studios, who has worked with Bethesda in the past on two Wolfenstein titles, both Dishonored games, and Prey. They are also working together on Redfall.

Lost Judgement

If you’re a fan of the Yakuza series, then Lost Judgement will be your cup of tea. In fact, it is a sequel to the Yakuza spinoff Judgement from 2019. The game received a new trailer during the State of Play showcase. September is looking to be a packed month for PS5 owners. Lost Judgement will be dropping on September 24.

Arcadegeddon

Arcadegeddon is already available for purchase through Early Access on PS5. Viewers of the State of Play event were greeted by an announcement trailer of the game. Arcadegeddon is a Fortnite-style co-op shooter. The full launch is set to take place sometime in 2022 but as mentioned, you can play it today.

Hunter’s Arena: Legends

If it’s a melee combat battle royale game that you seek, Hunter’s Arena: Legends is here to satisfy. The game is not only getting a PS5 release but it’ll also make its way to PS4 on August 3. Hunter’s Arena: Legends will be free for Playstation Plus subscribers that month.
