Tesla could soon have its own restaurant hubs next to charging stations

In another interesting move, Tesla recently filed for a new trademark that actually was unrelated to the usage of automobiles.

Instead, the trademark was for the category “goods and services”, which also means restaurants. This could indeed signify a possible move by the company to include restaurants next to their numerous Tesla Supercharger stations.

This recent application was filed by the technology giant with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The fact that a company like Tesla filed a patent is fairly uninteresting but the fact that it was in this category is certainly noteworthy. The application designates that Tesla is seeking to use its name for “pop-up restaurant services, self-service restaurant services and take-out restaurant services.”

This means that Tesla might partner with food related businesses and also beverage related ones to bring these additional amenities to its various charging stations across the world.

In a way, it is a newer roadside “truck stop” for a new generation and unique form of transportation. While a person is charging their car, they can grab a bite to eat or a drink next door.

Of course, simply filing for a patent doesn’t mean that Tesla will actually implement these measures, but it could soon have the ability to do so.

CEO Elon Musk has said before that he was interested in having a sort of roadside diner for one of the charging stations in California, but nothing has been implemented yet.

It could also be interesting if Tesla were to set up a sort of bar next to these charging stations. Of course, that might come with some added complications of a person literally being tempted to drink and then drive.

Having a gathering spot for Tesla owners might also be a fun way for people to interact with one another. But the option could be a thing in the future, and that is certainly intriguing to shareholders, futurists and technologists alike.
