galaxy z flip

The Galaxy Z Flip is a Samsung developed flip phone with a screen that has folding capabilities.

It does require readjustment as it has been years since most individuals have utilized a flip phone.

Samsung has new and exciting features built into the Galaxy Z Flip, many of which eliminate the negative aspects of the phone.

The two best features of the phone include the world’s first foldable glass screen and the ability for the phone to stand up.

Continue reading to learn more about these features and more.

Tips and Tricks of the Galaxy Z Flip

It is better to use two hands when opening the Galaxy Z Flip, you can use one but it may take a little muscle to do so.

The unlock button is on the top half of the phone, which isn’t ideal for one-handed use.

Both screens of the phone can easily get fingerprints on them, so definitely something to keep in mind for those who love to have clean smudge-free devices.

The free case that comes with the phone is decent and seems to protect the phone enough. It also fits comfortably in any pocket with or without the case.

Front Facing Camera

Selfies are easy to take with the new Galaxy Z Flip. The phone can sit up on its own and offers a timer. This only works when the phone is open, however.

It is much more difficult to take a selfie with the front-facing camera when the phone is closed.

Double pressing the power button to launch the front-facing camera when it is closed. Swipe the area to switch to a wide-angle selfie, then press the volume-down key to take the shot.

The cover screen is very small, which is what makes the closed selfie difficult at times.

The Cover or Outer Screen

As mentioned above, the outer or cover screen on the Galaxy Z Flip is very small which makes taking front-facing photos very difficult.

There are not many features other than this on this outer screen other than checking the time or battery life.

Other notifications do pop up on the screen, but the phone needs to be opened in order to actually check the notifications.

Standing Up

It has been mentioned a few times already that the Galaxy Z Flip has the ability to stand up on its own.

It is able to stand upright if an individual is watching a video, reading an article or even taking a picture.

There are magnets on all four corners that support this feature and allow the phone to be standing in many different ways with a little bit of pressure.

The Glass Screen

The glass screen is fully bendable and seems to be all that it has been hyped up to be.

The screen protects the interior of the phone from elements and provides a smooth surface to utilize.

The glass screen is covered under Samsung’s warranty if anything does happen to it.

It is important to note, however, that the glass screen did break on a drop test of the Galaxy Z Flip.

The Hinge

When the Galaxy Z Flip was first designed, debris and dust entered the hinge to get under the screen.

Due to this error, Samsung completely redesigned the hinge. It is protected by vinyl fibers to keep dust away.

Plastic caps are present also, to buffer against any other elements.

The hinge is overall completely sealed though there is a warning that dust and water damage could occur.

The Cameras

The Galaxy Z Flip has two cameras and one internal sensor. It offers 12mp sensors with wide-angle software and a 10mp internal camera.

The cameras also offer ‘Single Take’ that can take up to ten photos and four videos in one take.

Photos taken by the phone seem to be of decent quality with not much white value or glare ruining the photos overall.

The Crease from the Foldable Features

Every foldable phone has had the struggle of having a crease.

Most of the time this crease is only visible when the light shines on it, but it can be felt by a finger when running it down the seam.

The majority of the time, the crease is not even noticeable.

The glass screen helps to prevent the crease from being more severe and more noticeable. The width is only three inches long on the bend.

Battery Life

In the real world, when using the Galaxy Z Flip for eighteen hours a day, there is thirty percent battery left at the end of the night.

The battery’s power reserves do run out quickly when doing things such as navigation or watching videos. Standby leaves a lot of battery left.

The battery of the phone is a 3300-mAh battery split in two. These do have a history of having more problems than other batteries. The battery also comes with a 15-watt charger.

There is much more to learn about the Galaxy Z Flip, but for now, it seems to be a decent new addition to the Samsung family.
