PS5 & Xbox controllers

Recently, Nvidia rolled out an update (8.2.2) that will bring needed support to both PS5 and Xbox controllers that had been previously lacking even though both consoles had been out for quite some time.

With this recent update, those who use the Shield will now be able to navigate and play games with DualSense on the PS5 and Xbox Series X & S controllers to play games for the Android or GeForce Now.

One of the notable things that these next gen controllers can do is easily pair with Bluetooth.

The DualSense controllers for the PS5 are able to perform this function simply by holding the PlayStation and Share/Clip buttons until there is blue light.

The Xbox controllers can connect to Bluetooth after the pair button is held and the console button then begins to flash.

In addition to the integration with the new controllers, the latest update includes a few other important features.

There are some bugs that have been fixed, new games available, better volume control, and support for Control4 remotes and subsequent app.

Overall, this helps to bring even more value to the Nvidia Shield, which is seen by many as one of the top options for streaming boxes on the market due to their state of the art AI.

However, this comes at a cost as the Shield TV is roughly $150 and the Pro version is $200. The Pro version does include two USB ports, works with Plex, and provides 3GB of RAM.

Thus, this makes the Nvidia Shield great for those who really do love gaming. This latest update makes the use of these new controllers very straightforward and is a great step in the right direction.

The ability to use these controllers on the Shield is yet another win for gamers and the industry as a whole.
