starbucks mobile orders

1 in 4 sales at Starbucks is through their mobile app

According to a new earnings document, nearly a quarter of all transactions made at Starbucks are done via the coffee leader’s mobile app.

Customers are able to easily order coffee through the company’s app for faster service and to also avoid any unnecessary contact.

The coffee giant initially added the “Mobile Order & Pay” component to its app in 2015 that gave customers a better way to order through the app ahead of time.

The percentage of purchases through the app grew from 17 percent to 24 in the previous year.

This is good news for Starbucks, especially since it has been trying to build its mobile payments platform since the initial launch in 2011.

In fact, Starbucks now sees upwards of 25 million people in the United States making purchases via its app at least once every six months.

The coronavirus pandemic has certainly led to more people using online ordering and delivery as well.

A recent Pew Research Center finding shows 35% of Americans in urban areas and 36% in suburban areas have ordered from an app online during the pandemic.

This includes Starbucks, which has been quick to turn many of its stores into quick drive-thru locations.

This trend is likely to continue as getting that cup of joe first thing in the morning with relative ease and the tap of a button is the way to go for a growing percentage of the American public.
