Among the many announcements by entertainment giant Disney this past week, one is perhaps the biggest.

This is of course the announcement that Hayden Christensen will be appearing again as Darth Vader in the upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi release on the company’s streaming platform Disney Plus.

The news was announced by Lucasfilm and Disney representatives as well as Christiansen, who stated in a press release, “It was such an incredible journey playing Anakin Skywalker.

Of course, Anakin and Obi-Wan weren’t on the greatest of terms when we last saw them… It will be interesting to see what an amazing director like Deborah Chow has in store for us all. I’m excited to work with Ewan again. It feels good to be back.”

Christiansen appeared in both the second and third movies in the prequels in the 2000’s.

He has appeared in a limited amount of movies since then with a few standouts like New York, I Love You, Takers and previously Life as a House, Shattered Glass, and the television show Higher Ground.

Christiansen will of course appear alongside Ewan McGregor, who will also be returning as the title character of the show.

McGregor played Obi-Wan Kenobi in the first three Star Wars prequels, and the new show will occur approximately a decade after the events from Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith.

At this point in the timeline, Anakin Skywalker has officially become Darth Vader while Obi-Wan is handling the aftermath of this knowledge and the shift occurring in the galaxy.

Obi-Wan Kenobi has been officially in thee for a year know as it was announced last year and is one of Disney Plus’ most anticipated releases moving forward. McGregor appeared at that point to confirm he would be reprising his role.

There is no word yet on if any other actors from the prequels will be returning to the new show but it would not be surprising if Disney were to pull out a few surprises.

Now it is Christiansen’s turn to bask in the spotlight after this latest announcement.

There will be some time, however, before the show comes out as production will begin in March 2021.
