Food delivery service DoorDash has been in the news a lot lately. They recently filed to go public, and there’s no incentive to let off the gas just yet.

Now, the company has launched another new feature to gain more clients in the competitive food delivery industry.

DoorDash is giving businesses that already have their own delivery services in place the ability to still offer customers a way to get delivery via DoorDash.

DoorDash is offering this new feature so that businesses can still implement their delivery system and get the reach of the delivery platform.

The product is called “DoorDash Self-Delivery” and also will work with listings on Caviar in addition to DoorDash.

Businesses will show up in DoorDash’s search results when customers are looking for food, and there will also be a clear mention that the delivery is being done in-house.

DoorDash also helps to administer the delivery process if the restaurant wants it to do so.

Restaurants who do decide to partner with DoorDash will be given a “reduced commission rate”, although that has not been specifically mentioned.

Sandwich chain Jimmy John’s is one of the first larger businesses that will be available on Doordash’s new service initially.

Jimmy John’s is one of more than 2,400 new listings to now be available on the platform. These restaurants are also able to set the cost of the delivery as well as set the area where items can be delivered.

One major difference is the tracking of the delivery driver from regular businesses who use just DoorDash drivers on it service.

Now, customers who get food delivered by a business on the “DoorDash Self-Delivery” program will not be able to track the progress of the driver via DoorDash.

Customers will know which businesses use this service prior to purchase.

This is the latest in a series of new products launched by the company since the onset of the coronavirus pandemic.

DoorDash added the ability to partner with pharmacies and convenience stores too and is continuing to grow its reach with moves like this.
