The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

Movie fans have argued for decades that Nicolas Cage has been playing a version of himself since the turn of the 21st-century. The triumphant roles in Moonstruck, Wild at Heart and Con Air seem a long way in the past. If you wish your next Nicolas Cage experience featured more Nicolas Cage, you will enjoy The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent.

In the style of Curb Your Enthusiasm and Extras, Nic Cage plays a fictionalized version of himself in this action comedy-drama. The plot features the fictional Nicolas Cage being paid $1 million to attend the birthday party of Javi, a drug dealer and target for the CIA.

Pedro Pascal plays Javi, with Neil Patrick Harris, Sharon Horgan, and Lily Sheen playing Cage’s fictional circle.

Before Cage can make his way to the birthday party and pick up his check, he is recruited by the CIA to help spy on Javi’s cartel. Seeing Cage play up to his reputation as an out-of-control collector is fun as he asks Javi to sell him a grotesque statue of himself for $20,000.

If one Nicolas Cage is not enough, the movie features the 58-year-old actor playing his younger self. Nicky Cage is trapped in the Wild at Heart era when the actor worked with many of Hollywood’s auteurs, including David Lynch. Nicky complains about the career and life choices of his older self, which have led to him struggling to make ends meet. Cage admits his performance as his younger self eclipses his role as the older Nicolas Cage.
