Carolina’s McCaffrey Tops NFL Injury Report

Injuries continue to haunt teams battling to stay afloat and earn berths in the NFL playoffs.

With week 12 here, let’s take a look and see which key players are likely to be out with injuries.  

Houston wide receivers and Randall Cobb and Kenny Stills were expected to miss the Texans’ Thanksgiving Day game against the Detroit Lions.

Lions players who will be out include wide receivers Danny Amendola and Kenny Golladay. Rookie cornerback Jeff Okudah was ruled out. 

The Carolina Panthers may be hit the hardest this week with quarterback Teddy Bridgewater and running back Christian McCaffrey nursing injuries.

McCaffrey , an All-Pro, is not expected to play against the Vikings on Sunday, Carolina coach Matt Rhule told reporters on Wednesday. McCaffrey will be missing his third straight game.

Bridgewater Likely to Play Despite Knee Sprain

Bridgewater, meanwhile, reportedly is ready to play despite dealing with a knee sprain. He missed last week’s outing against the Lions.

Here is the up-to-date-news on the NFL injury front:

• Cowboys cornerback Anthony Brown and kicker Greg Zuerlein had been listed as questionable for Thursday’s clash with Washington. 

• Washington kicker Dustin Hopkins and wide receiver Terry McLaurin were listed as questionable for their match against the Cowboys. 

• Miami running back Myles Gaskin returned to practice and Dolphins defensive tackle Christian Wilkins was activated from the reserve/COVID-19 list. Salvon Ahmed, running back, did not practice. 

• Baltimore placed offensive linemen Patrick Mekari and Matt Skura and defensive end Calais Campbell on the reserve/COVID-19 list. 

• The league earlier announced Thursday night’s game between the Ravens and Steelers had been moved to Sunday. The league is engaging in more COVID-19 testing. 

• Kyler Murray, Arizona quarterback, was limited in practice. Cardinals wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins was out with an illness.

• Saints stars Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara were limited in practice on Wednesday. 

• New England cornerback Stephon Gilmore was limited in practice with a hand issue.

• Titans coach Mike Vrabel reported wide receiver Adam Humphries and safety Kenny Vaccaro were scheduled to practice Wednesday. Both players had been hampered by concussions.

• Bears running back David Montgomery reportedly has cleared the NFL’s protocol on concussions and will play Sunday when Chicago takes on the Green Bay Packers. Defensive lineman Akiem Hicks and quarterback Nick Foles did not practice. 

• Bengals running back Giovani Bernard did not practice on Wednesday. Joe Mixon, the starting back, is on the injured reserve list and Rookie QB Joe Burrow will miss the remainder of the season with a torn MCL and an injured ACL.

Vikings Hope Adam Thielen Can Take to the Field Sunday

• Vikings receiver Adam Thielen hopefully will be available for Sunday’s game against Carolina. Thielen is on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Guard Dru Samia was taken off the the reserve/COVID-19 list. 

• Chargers coach Anthony Lynn reported that running back Austin Ekeler was back at practice. practice Wednesday. Ekeler has been sidelined since Week 4 with a hamstring problem.

• Colts veteran quarterback Philip Rivers, toe injury, did not practice Wednesday. The Colts placed defensive lineman DeForest Buckner on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

• Chris Godwin, Tampa Bay wide receiver, returned to practice Wednesday. Guard Ali Marpet (concussion) practiced but defensive end Jason Pierre-Paul (knee) saw limited action.  

• The Jets welcomed quarterback Sam Darnold iback to practice. Darnold missed the past two games with a shoulder injury. Lineman George Fant did not practice. 

• Falcons defensive end Dante Fowler was activated from the team’s reserve/COVID-19 list. Atlanta running back Todd Gurley missed practice on Wednesday. Limited partcipants were Calvin Ridley, Julio Jones and Grady Jarrett .

• Browns linebacker Sione Takitaki was put on the reserve/COVID-19 list. 

• Jerry Jeudy, Denver wide receiver, saw limited duty in practice. Jeudy has had ankle problems.

• Green Bay Packers reported that wide receivers Davante Adams and Allen Lazard were able to workout on a limited basis.
