mcu Disney tv shows

Since its debut in January, Disney+’s WandaVision has put viewers of all shapes and sizes under its spell. While fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe love the way the show connects with lore from the comics, casual audiences have enjoyed the series’ homages to classic sitcoms.

The series boasts an impressive 91 percent approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and leading lady Elizabeth Olsen has even garnered Emmy buzz for her performance as Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch.

Since WandaVision has completed its 9-episode season one order and with the next Marvel Disney+ series, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, set to premiere this Friday, fans are wondering if Marvel’s offerings on Disney+ will be limited series or if we can expect future seasons.

Marvel boss Kevin Feige recently answered this question during a press conference to promote The Falcon and the Winter Soldier.

When asked if future seasons of Marvel Disney+ shows could be ordered, Feige said that it depends on where the story takes these characters.

Feige says that he and his team at Marvel approach their Disney+ shows the way they approach their feature films. Namely, Feige says that they have to make sure that the first one is good enough to warrant a sequel.

While conceding that there are ideas in place for future seasons of both WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Feige further points out that characters from both shows will still appear in feature films.

Therefore, confirming the second season of a show will potentially spoil an upcoming film. Using the example of WandaVision, Wanda Maximoff/Scarlet Witch is also set to appear in next year’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

Since audiences do not know what will happen in the film, ordering additional episodes of WandaVision could spoil plot points for Doctor Strange fans.

In addition to WandaVision and The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Marvel plans an extensive array of new television series for Disney+. Loki, which will feature the return of Tom Hiddleston as the trickster god, is scheduled to premiere on June 11.

Hawkeye, which stars Jeremy Renner and Hailee Steinfeld, and Ms. Marvel are also scheduled to begin streaming later this year.
