Youtube’s Policy Change
Youtube has made some dramatic policy changes which are leading to the shutdown of comment sections across a substantial amount of Youtube channels. Currently only a handful family vlogging channels actually have the comment section enable, The Murrays are not one of them.
Most people do not recognize the importance of the Youtube comment section. It is a way for content creators and influencers to communicate with viewers, in return creating a virtual relationship with subscribers.
YouTube has removed comments from the majority of videos featuring minors to combat predatory behavior. Majority of problematic videos belong to family vloggers like the Murrays — a popular genre of videos about living with kids.
Many creators are overwhelmed by the change due to mass amounts of emails and private messages. The more pressing issue is related to the rumors that all videos featuring minors will be demonetized, which is enough for this entire content niche to move onto new platforms.
