spider-man miles morales

The latest Spider-Man game from Insomniac Games is coming out in just a few weeks on November 12th on the PS4 and PS5 to great anticipation.

Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales will feature two main baddies in it, Roxxon, and The Tinkerer.

Roxxon is an entity and made up of numerous individuals while The Tinkerer is an individual in the upcoming game.

We’ll take a closer look below at what to expect from these villains in the upcoming game featuring Miles Morales.

Roxxon Energy Corporation

The first villain to be ready for is the Roxxon Energy Corporation, which is a huge worldwide organization mostly concerned with oil and gas.

The sheer size and wealth of the company makes them a serious foe to be reckoned with and one that has a vast amount of resources to stop Miles Morales from succeeding.

Roxxon was first introduced in a 1974 issue of Captain America. In addition to oil and gas, the company usually is involved in a plot to control or exploit a specific energy for both profit and power.

The game pits Roxxon in headquarters in Harlem during a time when the company is testing so-called clean energy known as “Nuform”.

The company is led by Simon Krieger, Nuform’s head director, who is shown as a sinister leader attempting to put on an innocent front.

In addition, Miles Morales has to battle with a number of the company’s security at various points in the game, and they have advanced technology to help them handle our hero’s spider powers.

There are energy shields used against Morales as well as goggles that can see Morales even when he is all but invisible.

The timing of a company that presents itself as a clean energy-focused one is interesting given today’s push for eco-friendly policies.

There’s also an element of some of media’s other huge evil conglomerates such as LexCorp from DC Comics, Umbrella Corp from Resident Evil, or even Spider-Man’s own Oscorp to an extent.

The Tinkerer

The Tinkerer is the other major villain in the game, this time as a one-person wrecking crew.

Originally included in The Amazing Spider-Man #2 in 1963, the character’s real name was Phineas T. Mason. Mason was a genius engineer who just wanted to have his own repair shop.

Over time, Mason’s superhero obsession became compulsive hatred and led to him using his shop as a front for his own criminal enterprises. The Tinkerer’s main advantage is his knowledge of technology and ability to adapt.

The Tinkerer was portrayed as an older, scientific-looking man in the comics, but will be quite different in the new game. Now, the character is a young woman, though she will still be a genius inventor.

Her character has invented “Programmable Matter” in the game, which is basically a substance that is able to transform into whatever shape it wants.

This is thus the weapon of choice for The Tinkerer in the game to fight back against Morales.

The Tinkerer is not simply trying to just fight Miles Morales. The character leads a gang known as The Underground to try to infiltrate Roxxon and hurt it.

The character has become a middleman for the fight between Spider-Man and Roxxon and is caught up in the fight.

Overall, both of these villains should be entertaining to battle on-screen in what promises to be a solid new offering in the Spider-Man universe.
