One of the most reliable indicators that all the top brands share is a strong online presence. As long as these brands continue to grow their online presence, and social media relevancy, expect to see these brands for years to come.

1. Gucci

People who are in the know shouldn’t be shocked at all by this. Gucci has been one of the biggest utilizers of the online marketing space. Gucci has been leading the industry with dedicated social media campaigns. Gucci has used major influencers, as well as spreading their message with the use of hashtags. 

Gucci is also a favorite by many influencers. These influencers post with Gucci on, musicians create music with very direct shoutouts to the luxury brand. While specific Gucci pieces have become staples. Items such as the GG logo belt, or the Gucci slides, have gone viral through social media. These types of pieces have widened Gucci’s audience significantly, specifically a younger demographic.

Chanel has taken a different approach with its luxury brand marketing. They have invested in a wide array of social media-based campaigns. Focusing on digital storytelling being led by celebrities. As well as these more high budget campaigns, Chanel has also invested in the documentation route. Behind the scenes content, that is spread cross-platform. They have also spread to informational content such as tutorials. 

For example one of Chanel’s most recent campaigns was surrounded by the hashtag, #InsideChanel. This was a narrator-driven campaign focusing on the history of the brand. Highlighting all the way from the founding, to the present day.

3. Louis Vuitton

Louis Vuitton has gained a lot of steam online. With the brands, the recent announcement of Designer Virgil Abloh would become their new Artistic Director. Virgil is an extremely well-known fashion designer. He is the creator of the extremely popular streetwear brand Off-white. Hiring Virgil Abloh instantly connected Louis Vuitton with some of online streetwear’s biggest trends and got a lot of people excited.

Louis Vuitton has since collaborated with other big streetwear brands. Noticeably Supreme. The Supreme and Louis Vuitton collaboration had huge traction on social media. That effect can still be felt months after the launch. Between the collaboration with Supreme and the hiring of Virgil Abloh, Louis Vuitton has really begun appealing to millennials. Targeting them with their online presence.

4. Hermès

Hermès has held a presence in luxury wear for a long time. But only recently have they began to push their online presence. They recently finished their new worldwide website and wasted no time promoting on social media. Hermès is taking somewhat a different approach with their website. Not only is it a place for e-commerce, but they also want to add content as well to better give the consumers what they want. This would be a place to get tutorials, guides, and behind the scenes content. While Hermès isn’t as involved with their social presence as some other luxury brands, it is on the rise.

5. Rolex

Similar to Gucci, Rolex has become a very popular luxury brand through online presence. Rolex plays a similar role in today’s society as Gucci. Both brands are often featured in pop culture references such as in music, and television.

The company is very well known and heavily marketed as an affluent mid-level watch. It can perhaps best be classified as an entry-level luxury watch. The top luxury watches are Patek-Philippe, Lange & Söhne, Audemars-Piquet, and Vacheron-Constantin.

Rolex has utilized sports figures such as Tiger Woods, Roger Federer, and Lindsey Vonn also to help promote their watches. Rolex has a very respected brand presence.
