kfc and beyond meats

The fake meat trend continues with KFC joining forces with Beyond Meats to bring fried chicken lovers a plant-based alternative.

On August 27th, Beyond Meats and KFC will be testing their fried plant-based nuggets and boneless wings at an Atlanta KFC. The lucky customers will receive a free sample with a purchase, and KFC will ask for their feedback. KFC tells Bloomberg their thoughts will “be considered as KFC evaluates a broader test or potential national rollout.”

Fast food seems to be shifting right before our eyes. Burger King rolled out its Impossible Whopper to all of its US stores. Since then Subway announced plans to test its Beyond Meatball Marinara in over 600 restaurants across the US and Canada. Carl’s Jr. now sells a meatless burger made by Beyond Meat, and White Castle is offering the Impossible Slider. All of these restaurants have partnered with either Impossible Foods or Beyond Meat increasing the competition between these 2 faux meat giants.

Outside of fast food, Beyond Meats sells its products in grocery stores, something Impossible Foods is aggressively attempting to do.

Beyond Meats is clearly ahead of the competition, they recently went public this year and are currently developing more meatless products. Impossible Foods is still working towards going public, but investors are already seeking to buy there stake.
