Get ready to dive into the gritty and action-packed world of John Wick like never before! Fans of the iconic assassin have something to look forward to with the confirmation of a John Wick anime series.

With the success of the film franchise, the announcement of an animated adaptation has stirred excitement among fans and sparked curiosity about what this new medium will bring to the table.

A New Dimension to the Wick Universe

The John Wick anime promises to explore the origins and untold stories of the legendary assassin, giving fans a deeper understanding of the enigmatic character. This animated adaptation opens up a new dimension to the Wick universe, allowing for creative storytelling and a closer examination of the intricate details that shape John Wick’s world.

According to reports, the anime will be titled “The Continental,” named after the notorious hotel featured prominently in the films. The series will delve into the inner workings of this clandestine establishment, known for catering exclusively to assassins. This intriguing premise sets the stage for a narrative that goes beyond the adrenaline-fueled action sequences that the film franchise is known for.

Anime Aesthetics Meet John Wick’s World

One of the most exciting aspects of the upcoming anime is the fusion of anime aesthetics with the gritty and hyper-realistic world of John Wick.

The anime format allows for creative storytelling techniques and visually stunning action sequences that might be challenging to achieve in live-action. Expect beautifully choreographed fight scenes, intense visuals, and a unique blend of Eastern and Western animation styles that will bring a fresh perspective to the John Wick universe.

Exploring Uncharted Territory

The John Wick anime promises to explore uncharted territory, introducing new characters and expanding on existing ones. While Keanu Reeves is confirmed to be involved in the project as the voice of John Wick, the anime provides an opportunity to showcase a diverse cast of characters, each with their own compelling stories and backgrounds. This expansion of the Wick universe ensures that even the most dedicated fans will discover something new and unexpected.

Collaboration and Talent

The collaboration between Lionsgate, the studio behind the John Wick films, and acclaimed animation studio Studio MAPPA (known for their work on titles like “Yuri on Ice” and “Dorohedoro”) raises the bar for the quality of animation and storytelling. With such talent behind the project, the John Wick anime is poised to deliver a memorable viewing experience that lives up to the high standards set by the film franchise.

As the anticipation for the John Wick anime continues to build, fans can’t help but wonder how this animated adaptation will elevate the already beloved franchise.

With the promise of a deeper exploration of John Wick’s world, stunning animation, and a captivating narrative, “The Continental” is set to become a must-watch for both fans of the films and newcomers eager to experience the adrenaline-pumping world of the Baba Yaga in a whole new way. Get ready to be immersed in the action, as John Wick makes his animated debut and takes audiences on another thrilling ride through the shadowy underworld he calls home.

On 12th October, The Fall of the House of Usher, which is the latest Horror from a series of Mike Flanagan’s work, hit the giant streaming house—Netflix.

This spooky anthropology from the renowned author is inspired by Edgar Allan Poe’s 19th-century writings. The show revolves around the downfall of an opioid empire—and it comes with a gothic twist.

In the series, the story focuses on the Usher family and their drug company. The casting crew includes inspiration from the Sackler family and Purdue Pharma who are the owners of Fortunato Pharmaceutical and OxyContin manufacturers respectively.

The show is filled with mysterious murders, gratuitous violence, gore of slashers, hilarious scenes, and scary twists.

Poe’s Plot

Originally, The Fall of House Usher was a short story developed by Allan Poe in 1839. To complement the writer’s other work, including The Raven, The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, and The Cask of Amontillado, Flanagan has created a great TV show The Fall of the House of Usher.

But what happens in Poe’s House of Usher? The plot revolves around an unnamed narrator who visits the decaying mansion of his childhood friend, Roderick Usher. He decides to stay in the mansion, but as time passes, he starts developing a sense of dread.

He discovers his friend Roderick has begun exhibiting signs of madness and his obsession with death starts to worry him. A few days later, Roderick’s sister Madeline passes on and he decides to lay her to rest in the tombs below the mansion.

His sister’s death elevates his paranoia even further. Roderick bursts into the narrator’s room one night, postulating that he might have buried his sister alive. As a matter of fact, it turned out his sister had been suffering from a peculiar mental illness for a while.

Strangely, the narrator’s bedroom flies open, Madeline appears, and she kills her brother, but the narrator manages to escape.

The Plot of the Flanagan’s Show

On the other hand, Flanagan’s TV series story revolves around Roderick Usher, who’s played by Bruce Greenwood and is Fortunato’s CEO. The character invites Assistant US Attorney C. Auguste Dupin, who’s played by Carl Lumbly, to confess his long list of crimes. This follows after the gruesome deaths of his six children, which occurred within a week.

Roderick blames himself for their deaths thinking his past crimes had something to do with it. All this time, he had locked his sister, Madeline Usher, Fortunato’s COO whom he had tried to kill earlier, in the basement to stop her from interfering with his confession.

Roderick explains how they mistakenly buried their mother (Annabeth Gish) alive only for her to burst out of her premature grave and exact revenge by brutally murdering their father, former Fortunato CEO William Longfellow, played by Robert Longstreet.

Throughout the confession, he was tormented by scary visions of his dead kids. The last episode concludes with the basement door flying open, Madeline emerges and strangles her brother, while Auggie escapes from the collapsing mansion.

Final Takeaways

The 8-episode show borrows greatly from Poe’s iconic work. Ranging from the episode’s titles to the flashbacks, Flanagan conducted in-depth research from the legendary writer’s work to create one of the best horror series of the 21st century.

However, even though the show is mostly based on Poe’s work, it’s received several positive reviews for its standalone merits.

The highly anticipated Star Wars “Ahsoka” finale ended with the eighth episode dubbed “The Jedi, the Witch and the Warlord.” Fans who have long awaited the unraveling of Ahsoka Tano’s saga were treated to a sensational ending that marked a significant milestone in the series.

Ahsoka had a tumultuous start, with a measured and somewhat unfocused pace during the initial episodes. However, as the series progressed, the narrative found its rooting and dived deeper into the mythology that has kept avid Star Wars fans hooked for decades. The finale offered satisfying resolutions for some while leaving room for further exploration of characters such as Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra, Thrawn, Shin and Baylan should there be a second season.

The Jedi, the Witch and the Warlord thrust the audience into a whirlwind of action and emotions, with twists and turns everywhere. The setting is in the faraway galaxy of Peridea, where warlord Thrawn and Morgan (the witch) are gearing up to depart when news of Ahsoka’s location reaches them.

What happens next is a series of heart-pounding actions, including an intense aerial battle with TIE fighters. Morgan is transformed into a Nightsister and pledges her allegiance to them, adding complexity to the storyline and leaving the audience questioning her motives.

Meanwhile, Ahsoka (Jedi) and her allies, Huyang, Sabine, Ezra and the Noti, have united to face their own trials. Ezra embarks on a journey to make a lightsaber, seeking the knowledge and guidance of Huyang, as the episode sheds light on the intricate dynamics of Ahsoka and Sabine’s past, Ahsoka’s protective instincts and the bond she shares with Sabine.

As the action unfolds, Ahsoka and her allies confront the warlord’s forces, resulting in a thrilling face-off. The choreography of this fight may not rival what we saw at the iconic Star Wars lightsaber duels, but it propels the narrative forward nonetheless. An unexpected layer of suspense clouds the battle scene when the Jedi meet the Night Toopers zombies who had sacrificed themselves to the Great Mothers.

Thrawn’s strategic plays and the sacrifices made by different characters amplify the stakes, increasing tension and flooding the battle with suspense. The warlord manages to escape after opening a channel and jumping into it, but Morgan comes to her end at the hands of Ahsoka and Sabine, who demonstrate resilience in the face of adversity. Ezra’s triumphant return to the galaxy offers the pivotal moment in the series, setting the stage for future developments.

The spotlight remains on Ahsoka, Sabine, Ezra and Thrawn, with hints at future storylines. Ahsoka’s finale delivered a medley of resolutions, subjecting the audience to action-packed sequences and nail-biting suspense.

Despite its shortcomings, the finale lays the foundation for potentially thrilling future adventures and explorations into the Star Wars expansive universe. Fans will also be delighted about the anticipated Star Wars movie taking place during the New Republic Era of Ahsoka.

While it’s unclear whether Disney+ will release another Ahsoka season, the ending of The Jedi, the Witch and the Warlord leaves room for advancement. Thrawn will probably reorganize his forces to gear up for his inevitable end, and Ahsoka’s group is out for revenge, which can only be settled with Thrawn’s demise.

The much-anticipated “Twisted Metal” TV show has finally hit the screens, bringing the iconic PlayStation game franchise to life.

As fans of the vehicular combat genre eagerly tuned in, hopes were high for a gripping adaptation that would faithfully capture the essence of the video game series.

Developed by Sony Pictures Television and inspired by the classic gaming franchise, the show was expected to deliver a turbocharged spectacle filled with adrenaline-pumping action and dark humor.

But does “Twisted Metal” succeed in revving up its audience, or does it get lost in the chaos of its own design? Let’s find out.

A Nod to the Classic Franchise

The “Twisted Metal” TV show kicks off with a visually arresting opening sequence, paying homage to the iconic game franchise’s roots.

Fans will be thrilled to recognize familiar characters and vehicles from the video games, which immediately sets the tone for the action-packed mayhem that is to follow. The show captures the essence of the game’s gritty post-apocalyptic world, filled with bizarre characters and deadly competition.

As nostalgic as it is for longtime fans, the show also seeks to appeal to a new audience, introducing elements that are more accessible and engaging to newcomers.

Plot and Character Development

The series follows a cast of diverse characters, all vying for the ultimate prize promised by the elusive Calypso — any wish of their choosing.

Each character is driving their own heavily armed and modified vehicle, battling their way through various challenges to be the last one standing.

The contestants’ backstories are intriguing and add depth to their motivations, but the writing occasionally struggles to give them enough screen time to fully explore their individual arcs. Some characters, unfortunately, end up feeling one-dimensional, making it challenging to form a strong emotional connection with them.

The central protagonist, Sweet Tooth, played by a charismatic and sinister John Gallagher Jr., is undoubtedly a highlight. He captures the essence of the psychotic clown ice cream truck driver with a chilling yet captivating performance. Sweet Tooth’s presence consistently drives the narrative forward, drawing viewers into the dark and twisted world of the competition.

Action and Visuals

The heart of “Twisted Metal” lies in its vehicular combat sequences, and the show does not shy away from delivering high-octane, explosive action.

The vehicular battles are meticulously choreographed, showcasing the creative use of weapons and impressive stunts.

The CGI and practical effects blend seamlessly, enhancing the immersive experience of the gaming world. Each vehicle’s unique abilities and firepower are showcased effectively, making for an entertaining spectacle that will appeal to fans of the video game franchise and newcomers alike.

However, there are moments when the action overshadows character development and plot progression. While it’s exhilarating to witness jaw-dropping car battles, it comes at the cost of fully immersing ourselves in the contestants’ struggles and emotional journeys. Striking a better balance between action and storytelling would have made “Twisted Metal” even more captivating.

Pacing and Narrative

The show starts strong, immediately immersing viewers in the ruthless world of “Twisted Metal.”

However, as the season progresses, the pacing falters, with some episodes feeling rushed while others meander with too much exposition.

The narrative often jumps between different characters and subplots, making it challenging to keep track of the overall story arc. Tighter editing and a more streamlined approach to storytelling would have made the show more engaging and impactful.

“Twisted Metal” brings the beloved video game franchise to the TV screen with a high-octane spectacle that will please fans of the original games. With impressive vehicular combat sequences and faithful nods to its source material, the show succeeds in capturing the essence of “Twisted Metal’s” dark and gritty universe.

However, the series falters when it comes to character development and maintaining a consistent pace, leaving some room for improvement.

Despite its flaws, “Twisted Metal” remains an entertaining ride for those seeking action-packed and nostalgic experiences.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of the video games or a newcomer to the franchise, the show offers enough thrilling moments to warrant a watch, with hopes that future seasons will address the shortcomings and steer this chaotic tale towards even greater success.

The highly acclaimed TV series “Succession” has come to a breathtaking end after a rollercoaster ride full of family drama, power struggles and corporate battles.

The final episode, titled “With Open Eyes,” revealed the Roy family in their true colors — destroying one another. The episode leaves the viewers highly captivated and reflective of the intricate webs of manipulation and power woven throughout the series.

The show portrayed how a family of insufferable billionaires — the Roys — tore each other apart over their media empire. The question was always about who would carry the sordid legacy left by their departed father.

Let’s dive into this remarkable series recap and its mesmerizing season finale that rates “Succession” as a modern television masterpiece.

The Rise and Fall of the Roy Dynasty

“Succession” takes the audience into the heart of the Roy family, led by Logan Roy, a media magnate, and his four cunning and ambitious children: Shiv (Sarah Snook), Kendall Roy (Jeremy Strong), Roman (Kieran Culkin) and Connor (Alan Ruck).

The series shows how the Roy kids have jostled for power over the media empire Waystar Royco, their father, built. The complex dynamics and the power struggles set the stage for an intense battle for succession.

Kendall, the eldest son, at first appears as the perfect heir, but his lack of confidence and addictions limit his chances. The impulsive and witty second son Roman also vies for his father’s approval.

At the same time, Shiv, the only daughter, displays her strategic prowess and sharp intellect as she rises through the company ranks.

Meanwhile, Connor, the detached oldest sibling, is on the periphery of the corporate power struggle.

Throughout the seasons, betrayals abound, alliances are formed and destroyed and characters evolve unpredictably. The series undisputably explores the themes of loyalty, morality, ambition and power’s corrupting nature, making it tantalizing and thought-provoking.

Final Act: “With Open Eyes”

The series’ final episode brings a captivating saga of the Roy family to an end, leaving viewers stunned by the complex dynamics of betrayal, family ties and power. The episode opens with the Roy family’s power struggle for control over Waystar Royco.

As the episode progresses, the aggression escalates as each character wrestles with their motivations and desires.

Full of ambition and resentment, Kendall contemplates a shocking stunt that could change the company’s landscape. His sister Shiv is torn between her aspirations and loyalty to her family and makes a critical decision that could shape her life.

While at their mother’s place, Kendall and Shiv duke it out over who should be the CEO. Both were searching for their brother Roman to secure his vote to block the GoJo deal of buying Waystar when GoJo CEO Lukas Matsson was secretly plotting to betray Shiv. This was discovered thanks to Greg, who used a translation app to eavesdrop on Matsson’s plan to kick Shiv out of the CEO position.

One of Matsson’s reasons for kicking Shiv out is that he views her as a sexual object and tells Tom that he wants to sleep with her.

Kendall uses this information to get Shiv and Roman on his side, and they all agree to stop the deal and let Kendall be the boss. But when they returned to New York, Shiv discovered that Matsson intended to pick Tom as the new CEO.

The Day of the Vote

At first, team Roy seems to be united, and they are ready to crown Kendall as the King. The Roy family is confident that the GoJo deal will die, but there is a turn of events when the voting starts.

Kendall votes against the deal, as do Roman, Stewy, Ewan Roy and Dewi. The voting stopped when it was Shiv’s turn to vote. She panics and leaves the room, causing Kendall to run after her. The vote was 6-6, and Shiv’s vote turned out to be the tiebreaker.

Tensions erupt between the siblings when Shiv reveals that she changed her mind and thinks Kendall is unfit for the position. Kendall believes he is the best suited to be Logan’s successor and declares, “I’m like a cog only built to fit one machine.” Realizing that his presumed “birthright” was being taken away under his watch, Kendall yells, “I’m the eldest boy.”

Back in the boardroom, Kendall tries to keep the negotiations, but it’s already too late. Waystar is already sold to GoJo, and Tom is to lead the new company as the CEO.

The Aftermath

Roman signs the Waystar away and is later seen at the bar alone, sipping a martini. Tom joins his wife Shiv in a black Mercedes, and she congratulates him. Their relationship has been on the rocks for the whole season.

Kendall is in the park alone as he watches the Hudson River waves roll before him in disbelief at what happened. He remains a rich yet broken man who didn’t get a chance to rule his father’s kingdom.

Shiv is reluctant to divorce Tom, who is now sitting on the throne. The finale provides a poignant resolution that showcases the consequences of the characters’ actions while leaving room for contemplation and interpretation.

The recent episode of the popular HBO series The Last of Us is packed with remarkable scenes.

Although episode eight, titled “When We Are In Need,” is characterized by suspense, intensity, and a bit more action than is customary in the show, viewers are currently captivated by a relatively tranquil moment — when Pedro Pascal’s character, Joel, affectionately refers to Bella Ramsey’s Ellie as “baby girl.”

This simple phrase carries significant weight within the larger narrative of The Last of Us.

Why It Matters When Joel Calls Ellie, “Baby Girl”

The relationship between Joel and Ellie in both the HBO show and Naughty Dog’s game develops slowly and reaches its peak during the winter season.

Despite their initial hesitations towards each other, they eventually open up about their pasts and future aspirations.

Although the specifics of their conversations vary between the show and the game, they share intimate details about grief and express their deepest desires for a world free of the deadly cordyceps fungus.

Their experiences have allowed them to fight and survive together, but they can finally let their guards down and truly connect.

Ellie has found a sense of companionship that has been absent in the apocalyptic world, while Joel can show care and compassion for someone in a way he has not done in two decades.

Throughout The Last of Us, Joel is guarded and reluctant to open up to Ellie fully, but it becomes clear that his initial resistance is rooted in his grief.

He lost his daughter, Sarah, during the initial outbreak of the cordyceps fungus, and he still carries the weight of that trauma. The watch Sarah gave him is a constant reminder of his loss, and Joel’s occasional glances hint at the deep pain he still feels.

However, as Joel and Ellie’s journey progresses, he opens up and cares for her as he did for Sarah.

This is made explicit in the show’s sixth episode, where Joel and his brother Tommy discuss Joel’s fear of losing Ellie and his reluctance to get too close to her. But by the end of episode eight, Joel and Ellie’s relationship has fully blossomed, with Ellie proving that she can protect Joel just as he has protected her.

When Joel finds Ellie in the episode’s final scene, Joel embraces her and calls her “baby girl,” a term of endearment that he used for Sarah.

This moment is significant as it represents the deepening of their relationship and the bridge that has formed between them. Despite their individual and shared trauma, Joel and Ellie have found solace in each other and formed an unbreakable bond.

It’s understandable why viewers were captivated by the emotional scene between Joel and Ellie in The Last of Us. Pascal and Ramsey’s performances were exceptional and genuinely conveyed the depth of their characters’ relationship.

With this scene, new fans are likely to be fully invested in the story of Joel and Ellie. Regardless of the outcome, it will be fascinating to see how fans react to the conclusion of this gripping story.

Initial pledges to remain as close to the 2013 video game source as possible were thankfully honored in the new HBO TV series The Last of Us.

However, the differences noticed so far have divided audiences. While these changes seem minor to some, the vocal minority are disappointed producers haven’t remained 100 percent loyal to the revered Naughty Dog game.

‘The Last of Us’ The Timeline

The Game: The story begins in late September 2014 before fast-forwarding 20 years to 2033, where we catch up to our protagonist Joel who has adjusted well to life in the apocalyptic wasteland.

The TV Show: The first episode opens with a 1968 television conversation about the likelihood of future fungal outbreaks. The show kick-started a decade earlier, in 2003, before taking the same 20-year shift forward and landing in 2023.

Joel’s Time in the Quarantine Zone

The Game: Unfortunately, there’s little information detailing Joel’s time in the zone or his dealings with Tess. His time with Tess tracking down Robert after a deal went awry is featured. Afterward, Tess pulls the trigger on the unreliable arms dealer.

The TV Show: The show decides to cast a light on Joel’s time in the quarantine zone until the present day. It certainly helps viewers understand the character a little more. A key difference here, though, is when tracking Robert, he’s already dead, and instead, they encounter Marlene.

The Spores

The Game: This airborne virus causes havoc for the player and is a fundamental barrier in the struggle for survival. Ellie can breathe in these life-ending spores without harm, which leads Joel to question her immunity against the virus.

The TV Show: Spores are absent from the TV show. Instead, Ellie’s potential immunity to the virus was shown via her outcome when bitten by an infected. The lack of spores doesn’t make this world any less frightening, and parasites are core to the virus spreading.

Why Joel Left

The Game: Finding Marlene is why he and Tess turn their back on the quarantine zone. Though, the matter of missing firearms is still rather pressing. Tess thinks resolving this is easily achievable — all they need to do is escort Ellie to the Capitol Building.

The TV Show: Joel is searching for his brother Tommy and is eager to reconnect. In the game, Tommy joined the Fireflies gang, a primary source of the ire in Joel’s life. The reason for their separation in the show is still under wraps.

Tess’s Sacrifice

The Game: The group reaches the Capitol Building to find it took back by the military. Tess reveals her condition before encouraging the others to go on and promising to delay the military. Joel turns around to see her mortally wounded.

The TV Show: Upon reaching the Capitol Building and finding the Fireflies wiped out by an infected member, the group gets overrun with infected. Tess stays behind and uses the gas and grenades in the building to ensure Joel and Ellie’s safety.

Bill and Frank

The Game: Bill is alive, while Frank has already taken his own life after getting infected.

The TV Show: Co-writer and co-creator Neil Druckmann hinted towards things being a little different for the next episode of The Last of Us by admitting that some fans will get annoyed. Be sure to tune in and find out!
