the mandalorian season 2

This is the way…

Mandalorian executive producer Jon Favreau confirmed today that Mando and Baby Yoda will return for a second season next fall.

The Mandalorian’s season 1 finale was released Friday, Dec. 27th and was praised by both critics and fans. The episode concluded with a taste of what’s to come from the show’s villain Moff Gideon — including a possible tie-in to Star Wars Rebels, which potentially be explored in later seasons.

Favreau tweeted out the date along with a photo of a statuette of Gamorrean, a green-skinned pig-like species seen in the “Star Wars” universe, most notably in 1983′s “Return of the Jedi.”

The series follows a Mandalorian bounty hunter in the years after the end of “Star Wars: Return of the Jedi,” as the galaxy adjusts to the fall of the Empire and seeks to build a New Republic.

The series takes a smaller approach to Star Wars when compared to the films that really try to fit the whole galaxy into one film. The Mandalorian was inspired by spaghetti Westerns and samurai films, particularly from the works of Sergio Leone and Akira Kurosawa, according to Favreau and co-producer Dave Filoni (“Clone Wars,” “Rebels”).

Season 2 is already in production.

‘The Mandalorian’ took social media by storm since its launch, in part because of a surprise cute character dubbed ‘Baby Yoda’.

The little green creature is a 50-year-old “child,” as Pedro Pascal’s Mandalorian calls him, and is the same species as the great Master Yoda, although that species has never been named. The next season will flesh out if the Mandalorian will find the mysterious species or maybe the bounty hunter will raise Baby Yoda to become a young Jedi.
