the joker movie review

With over two months to prepare for the Joker movie to come into theaters, everyone was excited and hyped up for this movie. There were some who questioned it, wondering if the movie was going to cross a line that no other Joker was allowed to cross before. Other people were excited to see where this story was going to go and how it was going to help tie together all of the mysteries involving the Joker and how he came to be the man that we all know.

If you have yet to see the movie, maybe avoid reading the rest of the article if you would like to remain excited about the film. But if you want an honest review of what you can expect before paying to see the movie, continue down below.

Is the ‘Joker’ worth the hype?

The question on everyone’s mind is if this movie is even good and can anyone out preform Heath Ledger as the iconic villain, ‘The Joker’. Critic reviews are the harshest, if you are curious about any movie the critics will have a brutally honest review for it. But that wasn’t the case with the Joker, critics actually enjoyed the movie and said it was a strong contender for Movie of the Year. Unfortunately, the critics might have gotten this movie all wrong.

This movie is less dark and gritty, actually more of a joke. It’s not very action-packed and most of it revolves around a man who is having a sort of mid-life crisis. People went into the screening hoping to leave with answers. The film left them speechless, and a mind filled with the action sequences that this movie seemed to promise in the trailers. Instead, they got a story outside of the tradtional comic setting. The story is great but as a comic fan The Joker didn’t really feel like a Joker story.

When people went in to watch this movie, they knew what to expect. It’s the story of how the Joker became the Joker. So they went in knowing that Joaquin Phoenix’s character would not even be the Joker until the last quarter of the movie, but even with all of the things that lead up to that moment, there are still a lot of questions.

This is a common problem with prequels. Not everyone takes the time to develop the story and create the characters that we know when they make a prequel. Maybe it’s because they don’t have the screen time that it takes to accomplish the end result, or maybe the origin story isn’t satisfying to the viewers when the origin story is supposed to become the end result character that everyone knows.

No matter what we think of the movie and the story in it, the movie exists and it is a wildly entertaining flick. But in the future, maybe all prequels should come with additional movies in sight. This help’s build up the character and the story without feeling like we have to rush to get everything to fit into 2 hours of screen time.
