Minecraft smooth stone

Smooth stone is one of the best ways to make Minecraft builds stand out! As the name implies, this is a stone block with a smoother look to it than regular stone.

Smooth stone blocks remove the crackled and broken look of cobblestone, giving bases a more uniform clean build.

Here is a quick guide on how to make smooth stone in Minecraft for all your building needs.

What is Smooth Stone in Minecraft?

Smooth stone in Minecraft is cobblestone that has been baked in a furnace to “smooth the wrinkles.”

As the name implies, smooth stone blocks have no lines running through them like cobblestone blocks. Smooth stone has the same function as regular stones, but they are great if you want to add a little bit of character to your house.

Players can make smooth stone blocks, slabs, and stairs to accent their Minecraft builds.

Minecraft Smooth Stone Guide

To get started, players will need to gather a bunch of cobblestone blocks. You will also need a furnace and a fuel source to complete the transformation.

A furnace can be built with eight cobblestone blocks at a crafting table. PC users can arrange the eight blocks with cobblestone in every slot – but leave the middle slot empty.

Place the furnace somewhere in your base and then put the remaining cobblestone in the top slot.

Next, place your fuel in the bottom slot of the furnace to start baking. You can use mined coal or any wood source as fuel, but there are other options.

Wooden blocks can be crafted into charcoal, which is more efficient than wood, but less efficient than coal.

Additional fuel source options include using blaze rods or a lava bucket.

A lava bucket is ideal for making a lot of smooth stone – it can smelt 100 blocks before burning out.

A furnace can only hold 64 cobblestone blocks at a time. That means you will need to add more cobblestone to make full use of a lava bucket before it burns out.

Minecraft furnaces smelt materials without needing the player to watch. You can place your materials in the correct slots, and the arrow in the furnace will slowly fill up.

As long as the furnace has things to smelt and a fuel source, it will continue until one slot runs out.

The furnace will produce regular stone blocks after the first smelt. Players need to smelt those regular stone blocks in the furnace again to get smooth stone blocks in Minecraft.

Smooth stone blocks are ‘twice-baked’ in Minecraft, no matter which material you use.

Minecraft Smooth Stone Quick Guide

  • Gather cobblestone blocks and a fuel source.
  • Build a furnace or two for efficiency.
  • Smelt cobblestone blocks to make regular stone blocks.
  • Smelt regular stone in the furnace to make smooth stone blocks.

Building With Smooth Stone in Minecraft

You can make smooth stone blocks, stairs, and slabs for your build in Minecraft.

The process of making each of these is the same as making smooth stone blocks.

Bake cobblestone stairs or slabs in the furnace twice to make smooth stone blocks.

Consider combining a mix of regular stone and smooth stone textures to create unique builds.

Creating smooth stone blocks in Minecraft is a fairly simple process – just think of it as twice-baked stone blocks.

Now you’re ready to take your Minecraft building to the next level!
