new apple watch

Apple’s latest product reveal includes two new Apple Watch models and two new iPads.

The Cupertino company is also overhauling its subscription strategy and introducing a new Fitbit-rival program.

Here’s everything you need to know about Apple’s upcoming product lineup for 2020.

Apple Watch Series 6

The Apple Watch Series 6 is here with expanded health capabilities, including a blood oxygen monitor.

Oxygen saturation of the blood can help provide a better general overall picture of a person’s health. All new data is visible in the Health app, with the ability to track trends over time.

Apple Watch SE

Apple also announced the Apple Watch SE, an affordable alternative to the newly introduced Series 6.

The device starts at just $279 for the WiFi model. It shares some features with the more-expensive Series 6, including a built-in accelerometer, gyroscope, and a newly-introduced altimeter.

The Apple Watch SE features no always-on display, no ECG functionality, and no blood oxygen monitor. The look of the Apple Watch SE is also closer to the Series 4 than the sleeker design of the Series 6.

iPad

Apple also refreshed the original iPad line with an update to the A12 Bionic processor.

It starts at $329 and is Apple’s budget tablet for those who want into the iOS ecosystem without breaking the bank. Apple spent more of its development time this year redesigning the iPad Air.

iPad Air

The iPad Air received the biggest update of all Apple’s new devices. The new iPad Air is modeled after the iPad Pro lineup, with much thinner bezels and TouchID in the power button.

The iPad Air features a 10.9-inch Retina display with a 2360×1640 resolution.

The tablet is powered by Apple’s A14 Bionic chip, which features a six-core CPU. Apple says the new iPad Air will feature a 40% performance boost over the previous model, with better graphics support.

The latest iPad Air also uses the USB-C port, abandoning last year’s lighting port support.

Finally, the iPad Air borrow’s the iPad Pro’s 12-megapixel rear camera but includes improved video stabilization features.

The iPad Air launches in October 2020 for $599 and will be available in Space Gray, Rose Gold, Green, and Sky Blue.

Apple Fitness+

Apple Fitness+ is a new service to offer personalized workout experiences to iOS users.

Subscribers can choose a workout on any device and the workout will start on a connected Apple Watch.

Metrics from the Apple Watch are shown on screen. Apple Fitness+ trainers are designed to help people attain their fitness goals.

Apple One Subscription

Finally, Apple is combining its subscription services under one umbrella subscription called Apple One.

Apple One comes in three tiers, including Individual, Family, and Premier. Customers can subscribe to Apple Music, Apple TV+, Apple Arcade, iCloud, and Fitness+ under one subscription price.

The strategy closely mimics Amazon’s Prime subscription, which combines several services under one price. Apple is hoping the move with help combat subscription fatigue among its users.
