training-day-prequel

If you are a fan of the film Training Day, which came out back in 2001, then I have some potentially great news for you. There are currently rumors circulating the internet that say Warner Bros. Studios is giving Training Day a prequel. There is also rumors saying that Warner Bros. picked Nick Yarborough to write the script for this prequel.

While there is not much information on the movie yet, as it is still mostly speculation, the movie is supposed to follow Alonzo Harris, Denzel Washington’s character from the first movie, in the year 1992, a decade before the events that took place in Training Day 2001. It will be set exactly a few days before Rodney King gets his verdict and the city is driven into madness and riots.

The movie is in very early stages, there is not even a director or any actors set to be a part of the movie yet, but that isn’t stopping people from throwing in their ideas for a cast. Some say that Denzel Washington’s son, John Washington, would be a great pick to play his father’s character in the prequel.

When Training Day came out, it was almost an instant hit with everyone across the globe, earning about $100 Million worldwide after it’s release. So it is no question why Warner Bros. would want to make another movie, but the question that remains is why would you wait this long to do it?

There was a Training Day spin off TV Series that premiered on CBS back in 2017 but was cancelled soon after airing. We can only hope that this prequel will live up to the success of the original film and give fans what they’ve been waiting for all of these years.
